Homeopathic medicine can help you rediscover your health and well-being. Homeopathy is suitable for all ages and all conditions. It is particularly useful for skin conditions, reproductive, digestive, hormonal and respiratory system disorders, stress-related conditions, and for maintaining day-to-day health. It is increasingly the most popular choice for people who are concerned about the side-effects of prescribed drugs (see http://www.wddty.com/ for more information). There is no risk of addiction or toxicity from homeopathy. Homeopathic medicines, correctly prescribed, are safe for everyone, even in pregnancy, whilst breast-feeding, and for the very sensitive. Homeopathic remedies can also work when taken alongside conventional medication.

How does it work? Homeopathic medicine operates on the principle of ‘like cures like’. For example, the remedy Allium Cepa (the onion) is often used for colds when the nose and eyes run, just as if you were chopping an onion. Illness often occurs when our healing capacity runs out of energy or gets stuck. Many things can disrupt our ability to get well and stay well, such as: grief, shock, accidents, stress, anxiety, over-work, relationship problems, low self-esteem and drugs. Homeopathic medicine works by strengthening and stimulating your immune system, enabling your body to heal itself and restore the body’s natural balance.

How do I take homeopathic medicines? If you’re self-prescribing, the 30th “potency” is best for home use, this is what is commonly sold in pharmacies and health food shops.

The pills should be taken:

  • by sucking one at a time (doubling the dose does not increase the effect.)
  • without water and preferably when no food has been eaten 10 minutes before or after
  • if the situation is dramatic and acute the remedy can be repeated after 10 minutes, wait and see if your child’s symptoms calm or reduce, if they do not then give another. Repeat in this way for 4 doses. Stop giving the remedy the moment there is any improvement and only repeat if symptoms worsen again. If there is no improvement at all after 4 doses then try another remedy.

What should I expect from a consultation with you? Come and see me in my office in the garden for a free, no obligation 15-minute mini-consultation before making your mind up.

If you decide to go ahead with treatment, then I will send you a questionnaire, by email or post, for completion before you come for your first full consultation. This gives me information such as your own medical history and your family medical history.

A first consultation is a chance for you to describe your symptoms and how they effect you in detail. Everything that you tell me will be held in the strictest confidence. A successful prescription is made by choosing the best remedy for you. In order to do this, I need to have a clear picture of who you are as an individual. You need to allow one and a half to two hours for this. I will either give you your prescription at the end of the consultation or post it to you shortly afterwards, depending on the complexity of your symptoms.

Follow up appointments are booked at the end of each session, and last typically 30-45 minutes. It is usual to have at least three appointments initially, but the length of treatment varies for each individual.

It is important to stress that the suggestions and treatment offered by me on this site and in my practice are not intended to replace appropriate medical investigation and treatment. If surgery or other medical interventions are crucial, the natural remedies I prescribe can aid and speed up the healing process.
